FLORA

Flora

A garden of blossoms is akin to jewels in a crown; a preciously beautiful touch that turns even the dullest chrome into a shining star. Adorning the earth like an art piece, nature’s confetti is always a delight to the eyes. The scent of these natural ornaments perfumes the air we inhale, masking the filthy pollutants that linger in the atmosphere. Fondly referred to as the lungs of the earth, plants are the fundamental fuel of life. The fruits they bear feed the hungry mouths of preys that walk the earth which will then be consumed by larger predators, transferring the modified solar energy from one entity to another. Understandably, the cycle of life is dependent on these seemingly insignificant earth crawlers that we often overlook.

A desolate garden is akin to a crown devoid of its jewels; a dull piece of cut metal that holds no grace. Hues of brown bury the earth, a monotonous palette of dirt to remind us of the inattention it received. Nature’s tantrum is punishing to the living. A barren world ridden with famine pushes the conscientious limit of living beings. Clean air is a luxury many could afford but could never own. Contaminated air corrupts the lungs of the living, accelerating the countdown to a visit from the reaper. Animals that once roamed the earth slowly decay into compost. Ironically their deaths would enrich the soil that once bore the fruits they consumed, a role reversal. Temperatures rise and fall on both extremities, too insufferable for any forms of life. All living things will be annihilated without the precious green lungs gifted by mother nature.

Temptations may not be a sin, but it is a trial of willpower. Mother nature surrounds us with its beautiful creations, an enticing curse that precipitates its own death. As the most intelligent creatures on the planet, we humans must take on the responsibility to put an end to the obliteration of all flora. Let’s start by resisting the temptation to steal this precious gift.
